Oral Testimony Concludes in Lakeside vs. County Case

Oral testimony concluded Wednesday in the case brought by Lakeside EMS LLC against the Effingham County Board.

Lakeside is suing the county for alleged losses of revenue and reputation for actions taken to prevent Lakeside from operating in the county. The County Board later amended the Ambulance Ordinance to allow Lakeside and other services to handle all but 911 calls in the county.

Since the matter is a bench trial, and not a jury trial, attorneys for both sides will submit their closing arguments in writing to Judge Stanley Brandmeyer within 30 days, then each party will have another 14 days to submit replies to the other parties' closing arguments. As the defendants in the case, the County also was given permission to file a written motion for directed judgment in the matter.
