State Crop Report for Week Ending August 29

There were 5.8 days suitable for field work in Illinois during the week ending August 29.

Statewide, the average temperature was 80.1 degrees, 6.5 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 0.82 inches, 0.02 inches above normal.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 5 percent very short, 20 percent short, 70 percent adequate, and 5 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 6 percent very short, 18 percent short, 69 percent adequate, and 7 percent surplus.

Corn dough reached 88 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 93 percent. Corn dented reached 65 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 64 percent. Corn maturity reached 4 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 10 percent. Corn condition was rated 2 percent very poor, 4 percent poor, 24 percent fair, 49 percent good, and 21 percent excellent.

Soybeans setting pods reached 95 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 94 percent. Soybeans condition was rated 3 percent very poor, 4 percent poor, 22 percent fair, 51 percent good, and 20 percent excellent.
