Gov Pritzker Mask 640

Governor J.B. Pritzker continues to put pressure on schools that choose to defy his mask executive order, saying they will face consequences. The governor reiterated that position again on Friday, as the number of schools on probation in the state grew to 49.

In our area, the following schools have been placed on probation by ISBE: Altamont, Altamont Lutheran Interparish School, Teutopolis, Beecher City, Dieterich, North Clay, Vandalia, South Central, Shelbyville, Ramsey, Patoka, Wayne City, Edwards County, Flora, Woodlawn, Oblong.

Four school boards in Franklin, Williamson, Macon, and Fulton counties have voted to comply after being placed on probation. ISBE says their probation will be lifted after they receive an acceptable back-to-school plan.

If no plan is submitted, or if no approvable plan is received within 60 days, the State Board of Education may act to change the status of the district or school to “Non-recognized.”
