Mattoon Man Dies of Injuries Received in Cycle Crash

A Mattoon man has died of injuries received when his motorcycle collided with a pickup truck.

The crash occurred at 3:33pm Saturday on the Montrose blacktop, a quarter-mile north of I-70.

State police say the motorcycle operated by 53-year-old Timothy Moon of Mattoon crossed into the path of an oncoming pickup truck driven by 43-year-old Denise Weichman of Teutopolis and the units collided head-on.

The impact threw Moon nearly 200 feet and he landed on the roadway.  Moon was airlifted to Carle Hospital in Urbana where he died at 5:50am Sunday.  Weichman was not injured.
