The City of Effingham is one of 74 units of local government that will share $40 million in payments from the federal American Rescue Plan Act.

Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker said the funds are part of more than $742 million in aid to 1,250 small cities, towns and villages across Illinois. The funds can be used to cover expenses incurred while responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Effingham will be receiving $850,399.

The Administration is urging local governments who have not yet done so to take steps to apply for funding before the September 30th deadline.
