A Sullivan man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison on a residential burglary count in Effingham County.

24-year-old Kaden Dedman was arrested in May of 2020 for entering the home of an Effingham woman while armed. Dedman was originally charged with a Class X felony count of home invasion, which was dismissed in exchange for a guilty plea to the residential burglary count.

In addition to the 10 years in prison, Dedman will have to serve one year mandatory supervised release once out of prison and was fined $100. Dedman was given credit for 444 days served in jail while awaiting disposition of his case.

Dedman also awaits court proceedings on charges in other counties.

Dedman's co-defendant, Jamal Harris of Charleston, earlier received a five-year prison term for residential burglary after pleading guilty last September.
