North Clay school board members Tuesday voted to stick with their earlier plan to recommend masks if someone has not been vaccinated, but that masks are not required.

The motion included a provision that includes temperature checks.

The vote was 4-3 to continue with the "recommend, not require" provision, which was what the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had suggested before Governor J.B. Pritzker's mandate that all in schools wear masks.

In other business, the North Clay board hired Morgan Bailey as 5th and 6th grade basketball coach, hired Jennings Barnfield as high school PE/Health teacher for the coming school year, hired Matt Passalacqua as high school Science teacher for the coming year, approved a motion to hire a long term sub for the coming school year, and hired Emily Thomann as a volunteer coach for the coming high school volleyball season.
