Jeff Workman serves as administrator of both the Effingham County and Clay County Health Departments.

Workman told the Clay County Board Tuesday that he is seeing increased numbers of COVID-19 cases and that there's "little doubt" it's due to the Delta variant of the virus.

Workman acknowledged that they are seeing positive COVID cases even if the person has been vaccinated. He added that people are "generally safer" by getting the vaccine, and less likely they'll experience more severe symptoms.

Workman also said he is seeing a higher level of people on quarantine becoming ill than earlier.
