Beecher City HS 2021 1

Beecher City school board members Monday voted to recommend the use of masks, but not to require them.

The exception will be while traveling on buses, where masks will be required.

The vote was 5-0 in favor with members David Doty, Ryan Schaefer, Aaron Summers, Jacob Burks and Lee Roadarmel all present for the vote. The motion requiring the wearing of masks was tabled before it came to a vote. Board members Darren Doty and Jordan Shields were absent from the meeting.

Also Monday, the Board placed the tentative fiscal year budget on file for public review with a vote planned on the measure at their September meeting. The Board approved the retirement of non-certified staff member Kay Klepzig, and the hiring of Kierra Scoles as a part-time cook.

Board members approved a bid from Patriot Industries for refinishing the grade school gym roof, a bid from Schlanser Painting for painting areas outside of the grade school gym and cafeteria. The Board hired Karen Wakefield as a grade school Music teacher and approved the hiring of volunteer coach John Brown.
