Illinois State Police (ISP) District 12 has announced upcoming overweight enforcement efforts on the IL-161 extension bridge at Skillet Fork Creek near the Marion/Wayne County line. The iron truss bridge over Skillet Fork Creek is on the IL-161 extension just west of Klomp Road (Marion County 2350E), approximately ¾ mile west of the Marion/Wayne County line.

Effective July 23, county engineers set a 10-ton weight limit and a 9-foot width restriction for the bridge, effective immediately. The 10-ton weight limit applies to single vehicles or vehicles in combination. All trucks over 10 tons must take an alternate route. The Marion County Highway Department has placed detour signage for trucks to take alternate routes, that would otherwise violate the new weight and width restrictions.

ISP District 12 would like to remind the public, that troopers will be performing overweight enforcement at the bridge location. The new bridge restrictions will be strictly enforced.
