Two people were injured in a motorcycle accident Saturday in Coles County.

Coles County Sheriff's Department report a motorcyle operated by James Hildebrand attempted to pass a passenger car while traveling on Illinois Route 16 just east of Illinois Route 49. During the pass, the rear tire on the motorcycle blew out, causing the motorcycle to sideswipe the car.

The impact resulted in the cycle laying down in the roadway, causing both people on the cycle to fall from the cycle.

Hildebrand was injured, as was his passenger, Mona Blagg. Blagg was taken to Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center, while Hildebrand was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

Neither the driver of the car, Derek Malone, was injured, nor were his two passengers.

Coles County deputies were assisted by Charleston Fire Department, Kansas Police Department, and Air Evac.
