Woman Found Dead in Apartment Tuesday

A local woman was found dead Tuesday morning and authorities are working to determine the cause of death.

The woman was identified as 27-year-old Dariane Weis of Effingham.

Effingham City Police Department responded to a residence on Hillside Drive at approximately 6:30am regarding an unresponsive female. Officers found a female dead in one of the apartments in the building. The Effingham County Coroner's Office and the Effingham City Police Investigations Unit were contacted. Abbott EMS personnel were also on scene.

The body was transported to the morgue at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. An autopsy is scheduled for 1pm Wednesday in Urbana at the Regional Autopsy Center to determine the cause of death. Medical records were requested and toxicology samples will be sent to the lab for analysis.

The incident remains under investigation by the Effingham City Police Investigations and the Effingham County Coroner's Office.
