A Calumet Park resident was injured in a crash on the interstate near Neoga Monday afternoon.

Illinois State Police report a car driven by 40-year-old Hannah Higgs was northbound on I-57, one mile south of the Neoga interchange just after 2pm when the crash occurred. Police say Higgs lost control of the car in heavy rainfall and ran off the roadway to the left, coming to rest in the median.

Higgs was injured and was transported to an area hospital with what were termed non life threatening injuries.

Higgs was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and possession of drug paraphernalia, and was found to be wanted on an in-state warrant for an undisclosed charge.
