A Granite City man has been sentenced from Fayette County Circuit Court to prison for unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle and theft.

38-year-old Kenneth Weldon had been arrested earlier this year following a chase in a stolen vehicle and a later foot chase. The incident began in the Vernon area of Fayette County. Weldon was also a suspect in several other vehicle thefts.

Weldon was sentenced to eight years in prison for unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle, and three years in prison for theft.

The incident resulting in the sentences involved a stolen SUV from St. Peter, a pursuit in St.Elmo, a crash near Con Agra Foods, and a foot chase involving a K9 unit. Weldon is also suspected of being part of a theft of a four-wheeler and trailer from the Shobonier area.
