Deer, Motorcycle Accident in Clay County Tuesday Evening

A deer struck a motorcycle traveling on US Route 45 in Clay County Tuesday evening, resulting in injuries to the occupants of the cycle.

The crash happened at 6:24pm, south of Louisville.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office reported the cycle driven by 33-year-old Ryan Vaught of Louisville was northbound when the deer came onto the highway and hit the cycle. The impact caused the cycle to go down. The cycle skidded on its side approximately 195 feet before the riders left the unit. The cycle then skidded another 213 feet before coming to rest. 

Vaught was injured, as was his passenger, 33-year-old Regina Levi of Louisville. Both were airlifted from the scene to be taken for treatment. 

No citations were issued.
