Mattoon police arrested two people Wednesday in connection with the shooting death of a man at Toasters Bar in Mattoon on March 18.
22-year-old Brooke Deadmond of Toledo was arrested on a Coles County warrant charging two counts of obstructing justice. Deadmond is alleged to have withheld information in the shooting death of Benjamin Newton.
Police also arrested 21-year-old Andrew May of Mattoon on a Coles County warrant charging two counts of obstructing justice and one count of possession of a stolen firearm. It's alleged that May withheld information regarding Newton's robbery and murder and was in possession of a stolen firearm.
Deadmond is free on bond, while May is being held pending the posting of bond at Coles County Safety and Detention Center in Charleston.
The suspect in the robbery and murder, Thomas Ray O'Dell, was shot and killed during a gunbattle with police in Bryant, Arkansas while in the midst of a burglary at a store on April 3.
