Alternative Fuels Corridor 2021

The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that signs will start appearing along interstate corridors, guiding motorists to charging stations for electric vehicles. The signs, which will be blue, are part of a national effort.

The Federal Highway Administration has designated 145,000 miles of interstate for promoting alternative fuels. I-70 in Illinois was among the routes designated to take part.

The first signs will show electric charging locations, but additional ones in the future will point out locations for compressed natural gas, liquified natural gas, hydrogen and propane fueling stations.
