SUV Runs off Interstate Near Farina, Injuring Passenger

A SUV ran off I-57 Tuesday afternoon, injuring a passenger in the vehicle.

The crash was reported at 3:19pm about three miles north of Farina. Illinois State Police reported 75-year-old Sherman Evans of Gary, Indiana was northbound when his SUV ran off the roadway and struck a tree in the right ditch.

A passenger in the SUV, 65-year-old Susan Evans of Gary, Indiana, was injured and was transported by ambulance for treatment of what were termed non-life threatening injuries.

No citations were issued.
