Statewide, the average temperature was 55.4 degrees, 3.7 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 1.59 inches, 0.58 inches above normal.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 1 percent very short, 10 percent short, 63 percent adequate, and 26 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 3 percent very short, 12 percent short, 68 percent adequate, and 17 percent surplus.

Corn planted reached 74 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 61 percent. Corn emerged reached 35 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 28 percent.

Soybeans planted reached 57 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 25 percent. Soybeans emerged reached 23 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 5 percent.
