Effingham Water Authority trustees were updated at a recent meeting on progress on the Pearson Peninsula project.

Tom Ryan of the Parks and Recreation Committee reported that a ribbon cutting is planned at the disc golf course this month, and tournaments could possibly be scheduled.

Ryan said restroom refurbishing is in process, and said they are postponing the project to increase the beach to its original dimensions to this Fall or next Spring.

We reported earlier on the groundbreaking ceremony for the project that took place last month.

The Board approved the purchase of an eight-position swing set for just over $25,000, and purchased a six-foot coral reef climber, a lighted flagpole, and 37-inch chess pieces and 10-inch checkers. The three purchases will total about $18,000 in cost.

Also, Lake Superintendent Mike Dirks presented a proposal for a floating dock for the Kirkpatricks and the obstacles to overcome. Each trustee will look over the property before reaching a decision. The Board also heard about flooding problems at Blue Point Trail and how to correct the problem.

Dirks reported that his crew is in the process of finishing up lights on the buoys, and Water Authority Attorney Tony Siemer was asked to follow up on incomplete remodeling at Lot 27 Boos and Grunloh #2.
