Despite the surprise snowfall, the groundbreaking was held Tuesday afternoon for Phase I of the Pearson Peninsula project.

Dirt is already being moved for the project that will utilize the Effingham Beach property. Included in Phase I is access to the beach to all, and playgrounds for young children. A nine-hole disc golf course across the access road to the north is already in place and is nearing completion.

Lake Sara Forever volunteer Tom Ryan said if the weather allows, he is hoping for completion of Phase I by the time the fireworks are touched off for Independence Day.

Greg Sapp spoke with Ryan about the project...

Greg also had the opportunity to talk with Christo Schultz regarding fundraising for the project...

Greg also spoke with Effingham Water Authority Board Chairman about the project and its impact on the lake community and the entire area...
