The Effingham Fire Department has a limited amount of Smoke Alarms available for installation by the Fire Department to City residents. The Smoke Alarms are being provided by the American Red Cross as part of the American Red Cross “Sound The Alarm “ program.

Additional information about this free program can be found on the Effingham Fire Department Facebook page. The Fire Department will also be visiting residential neighborhoods on Monday conducting door to door visits offering Smoke Alarm installations and fire safety information.

Effingham Fire Chief Bob Tutko said that this is part of the Department's continued Community Risk Reduction efforts aimed at reducing residential fires and enhancing community safety.
