Brownstown Board Approves Agreements, Personnel Matters

Brownstown school board members acted on several agreements and personnel matters at their recent meeting.

The Board approved membership in the Illinois High School Association for the coming school year, renewed an intergovernmental agreement with SEPCO for purchasing commodities in the coming school year, agreed to offer Spanish I through Illinois Virtual High School in the coming school year, and authorized Superintendent Mike Shackelford to complete an ESSER II application.

The Board employed 16 teachers for next school year, including placing Christa Stein, Kelsey Seidel and Emily Miller on tenured status, and also employed a number of non-certified employees for next school year.

Board members accepted a letter of retirement from Evelyn Wells effective February 1, 2022; and accepted a letter of resignation from Morgan Pals as of the end of the current school year.

A series of extracurricular coaches were hired for the coming school year, while Jake McWhorter, Monica Wilhour and Madeline Cade were approved as volunteer junior high track coaches for this spring season, and several other volunteer coaches for the coming school year.
