Tank Truck Accident Near Beecher City

The driver of a tank truck was injured in a crash Sunday afternoon in Fayette County.

The truck driven by 49-year-old Richard Grotts of Vandalia was headed south on Illinois Route 128 near Beecher City when the crash happened at 3:15pm. 

Illinois State Police report the crash happened when the truck ran off the road to the right and struck a ditch, then overturned. Grotts was taken from the scene for treatment of what were termed non life threatening injuries. Police say a witness reported that the truck was run off the road by a northbound truck traveling in the southbound lane. 

The crash remains under investigation.
