Clay County Board Fills One Vacancy, Dealing w/Another

Clay County board members filled one vacancy at this week's meeting, but learned of another one.

Randy Thompson was named to the Board to succeed Shannon French, who resigned the seat in District A. 

Now, the Board will deal with the resignation of John Bayler, whose resignation is effective March 31. Bayler has represented District J, which includes the area around Charley Brown Park in Flora. 

The Clay board also appointed William Seelman as a trustee of the Harter-Stanford Fire Protection District through May 2024. There was discussion about forming a committee to oversee the Clay County Enterprise Zone, but nothing was finalized. Representatives of the various taxing districts impacted by the Enterprise Zone, including the County, could have members on the committee.
