Beecher City school board members Monday set the high school graduation date.

The ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 8 and will begin at 2pm.

The Board approved membership into the IESA and IHSA for next school year; authorized Superintendent Phil Lark to prepare a tentative budget for the coming school year; and approved awarding a scholarship in honor of the late George Bauer.

Board members hired Brianna Drake as a full-time Spanish teacher; approved the health/life safety survey; adopted a resolution regarding the dismissal of educational support person Jamie Summers, but dismissed action on the dismissal of certified personnel. Also approved was an agreement with the Regional Office of Education for alternative education instruction for the coming school year, and student insurance coverage by Markel Insurance for the coming school year.

The Board met in closed session for more than an hour on personnel items, but took no open session action.
