Three New Positive COVID Cases Reported in County Thursday

The Effingham County Health Department Thursday reported three new positive COVID cases.

The cases were those of a male in his 20s, a male in his 30s, and a female in her 20s.

Illinois Region 6 rolling test positivity was 2.2% through March 1, while Effingham County was 1.8% for the same period.

Statewide, the Illinois Department of Public Health Thursday reported 1,740 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease in the state, including 42 additional COVID-related deaths. None of those deaths occurred in an area county.

As of Thursday night, 1,200 individuals in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 260 patients were in the ICU and 128 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
