Tax cheats will come under greater scrutiny if Governor Pat Quinn gets his way. Quinn's budget proposal calls for hiring 75 additional auditors at the Illinois Department of Revenue.

Revenue officials say the state will collect more in lost taxes than what it will cost to have the additional workers on board.

The Governor also granted 87 clemency petitions on Friday, and denied 135 others. His action comes as he deals with a backlog of more than 25-hundred cases from the previous administration.

The 222 clemency petitions acted upon are part of dockets ranging from 2005 to 2012.
