Four New COVID Cases Reported Thursday in County

Effingham County Health Department reported four new positive COVID cases in the county Thursday.

Those cases involve a man in his 50s, a man in his 70s, a female less than one year old, and a female in her 20s.

Illinois Region 6 test positivity seven-day rolling average was 3.1% through February 22, and Effingham County came in at 2.3% for the same period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 2,441 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease in the state, including 55 additional COVID-related deaths.

There was one area COVID-related death reported; that, of a female in her 50s in Coles County. As of Thursday night, 1,393 individuals in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 336 patients were in the ICU and 174 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
