An Effingham man was arrested after an alleged domestic dispute turned into an altercation with city police.

Effingham Police Chief Jason McFarland said officers were called to Easy Breeze Mobile Home Park due to a report of a domestic dispute involving 26-year-old Jayson Rentfro.

McFarland said, at one point, Rentfro attempted to physically move through the officers on a small snow-covered deck outside the mobile home. When the officers attempted to handcuff him, Rentfro allegedly punched the officers. Three of the officers were injured.

Rentfro was taken into custody on four counts of aggravated battery to a police officer with injuries, resisting a peace officer with injuries, unlawful restraint, and domestic battery. He is scheduled to make his first appearance with counsel on Wednesday.
