COVID-Related Death Reported in County

The first COVID-related death in Effingham County in several days was reported Friday by the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The death was that of a man in his 80s. 

IDPH also reported the COVID-related death of a Cumberland County resident, a female in her 80s. 

There were 63 COVID-related deaths reported statewide Friday.

IDPH reported 2,219 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease in Illinois.

As of Thursday night, 1,596 individuals in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 366 patients were in the ICU and 190 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
