Illinois Route 33 Open Again Between Newton and Dieterich

The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that the closure of Illinois Route 33 between Newton and Dieterich has ended, and the roadway is again open.

The highway had been closed in that area following a train derailment west of Wheeler shortly before 10pm Tuesday.

IDOT said that Canadian National Railroad indicates there may be periodic closure of one lane of the highway as they continue their cleanup in the area of the derailment.
