Altamont city council members have awarded a water main replacement project that will extend through the City's main intersection of Routes 40 and 128.

Kieffer Brothers Construction of Mt. Carmel will do the water main work for $103,005.50. The project will extend from the water tower north along Route 128 and through the intersection with Route 40.

The project is being done in conjunction with plans by IDOT to reconstruct the intersection of the two highways in Altamont, including widening and resurfacing work on both roadways. The water main work is to be completed by the end of May.

The Altamont Council also approved a three-year contract with Clifton, Larson, Allen CPAs. The first year fee is $25,935, with the second and third year fees increasing by 2.9% each year.
