Six people were injured in a crash on the Dieterich/Clay City Blacktop in Sailor Springs Monday evening.

The crash happened just after 5:30pm. A SUV and a semi were involved in the crash.

Illinois State Police report the SUV driven by 42-year-old Dani Escobar of Evansville, Indiana was traveling south on the blacktop when Escobar lost control of the unit in the snow. The unit crossed into the northbound lane and struck the semi driven by 56-year-old Ricky Burton of Salem head-on. The impact threw two passengers in Escobar's vehicle, a three-year-old girl and 25-year-old Corallia Ramirez, both from Evansville, from the vehicle.

Both drivers, the two passengers thrown from the Escobar vehicle, and two other passengers in Escobar's vehicle, a four-year-old boy and 41-year-old Roxanne Rivera, both from Evansville, were all taken for treatment.

Escobar was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash, no valid driver's license, and improper lane usage.
