020921 Fatal Crash

One person was killed in a crash involving a semi and a car on West Fayette Avenue Monday night.

Effingham County Coroner Kim Rhodes said the person killed was 23-year-old Logan Dallape of Effingham. Rhodes said Dallape was attempting to turn from eastbound Fayette onto the northbound interstate entrance ramp and collided with a westbound semi driven by 46-year-old Tyron Hurst of Wentzville, Missouri. The cab of the semi ended up off the roadway and over the shoulder.

Rhodes pronounced Dallape dead at the scene. Dallape was alone in the vehicle.

An autopsy is set for 9am Wednesday at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham to determine the cause of death. Rhodes' office and the Illinois State Police are continuing their investigation into the crash.

Also assisting at the scene of the crash were the Effingham City Police Department, Abbott EMS, IDOT and the Effingham Fire Department.
