Many Storm-Related Crashes Wednesday, Including Fatality

Many storm-related traffic crashes occurred throughout the area Wednesday afternoon and evening, including one involving a fatality.

The fatal crash occurred at 1:12pm on I-57 at the Neoga interchange. State police reported it was a single-vehicle crash.

Police report a vehicle was northbound when the driver lost control of the unit. The vehicle struck the right guardrail. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The roadway was shut down for approximately 1-1/2 hours and was re-opened about 3:30pm.

As of 4:45pm, a semi was blocking one lane of eastbound I-70 at St. Elmo.
