Cumberland school board members have decided that if bad weather comes, the district will use snow days rather than remote learning.

The discussion was prompted by a Cumberland Education Association survey, the results of which were shared with the Board by Cumberland Superintendent Todd Butler.

Board member Howard Markwell responded that he knows administrators and staff worked hard to increase remote learning grades, but feels that students should be in school and that the District should not use a remote learning day. Other board members agreed, so snow days would be handled as in previous years.

Cumberland board members also voted to return to in-person student learning on Fridays beginning on March 15, depending on local infection rates and state region mitigation levels, and that dismissal will be at 2pm.

The Cumberland board also employed Maggie Boyle as a special education teacher, Kylee Booth as the middle school head volleyball coach, and Tracy Wright as the middle school assistant volleyball coach.
