Second Distribution of Property Tax Revenue Made to Area Taxing Bodies

The Effingham County Treasurer's Office has made a second distribution of property tax revenues to area taxing bodies touching the county.

County Treasurer Paula Miller said $21,708,494.99 was distributed January 14. To date, $54,692,570.28 has been distributed to 92 taxing bodies. That amount represents 96% of the total tax extended.

The five largest distributions have been made to the Effingham Unit 40 School District for $16,186,351.22; Teutopolis Unit 50 School District for $4,909,873.24; Effingham County for $4,710,874.79; Lake Land College for $4,598,978.16; and the City of Effingham for $3,854,272.18. 

As of Thursday, Miller said taxes remain unpaid on 307 parcels of land in Effingham County. The annual tax sale is scheduled for February 11.
