Just 30 Positive COVID Cases in County from Saturday Thru Tuesday

Just 30 new positive cases of coronavirus disease were reported in the period from Saturday through Tuesday in Effingham County.

There were 11 cases on Saturday, six on Sunday, nine cases on Monday and just four cases on Tuesday.

Here are the demographics:

SATURDAY--

Males--two in their 30s, one in his 50s, one in his 60s, and one in his 80s

Females--one under 10 years old, one in her 20s, three in their 30s, and one in her 60s

SUNDAY--

Males--two in their 50s and one in his 70s

Females--two in their 20s and one in her 70s

MONDAY--

Males--one under 10 years old, one in his 20s and one in hs 60s

Females--one in her 20s, one in her 30s, three in their 40s and one in her 50s

TUESDAY--

Males--one in his 60s

Females--two in their 40s and one in his 50s

Illinois Region 6 rolling test positivity was 6.5% through January 16, while Effingham County as 10.7% for the same period.

The Illinois Department of Public Health Tuesday reported 4,318 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease in the state. That number included 33 COVID-related deaths, including a female in her 80s in Effingham County and a male in his 70s in Clay County.

IDPH also reported that more than a half-million COVID vaccines have been administered, including just under 70,000 for long-term care facilities. The daily average for doses  being administered statewide is just over 22,000.

Shelby County reported six new positive COVID cases on Tuesday.
