Death of Local Man Appears Due to Natural Causes

The Thursday death of a local man appears to be due to natural causes.

The Effingham County Coroner's Office responded to a call at 6pm Thursday to a residence in Beecher City.  67-year-old Alan Maxwell was found unresponsive in the residence by a roommate.  Emergency medical assistance and police were notified.

Maxwell was pronounced dead by the coroner's office at 6:30pm.  The initial investigation disclosed that Maxwell died of natural causes and no foul play is suspected.

The investigation continues by the Coroner's Office and the Effingham County Sheriff's Department.
