No one was injured in a crash on the interstate near Effingham Sunday morning.

Emergency crews were called just after 5:30am to I-70 Westbound, about four miles east of Effingham. Effingham Fire Chief Bob Tutko said a family from Missouri was heading home from a trip to Pennsylvania. There were three adults in the car along with one child.

Tutko said each of the adults were wearing their seat belts, and the child was in a car seat. Despite a great deal of damage to the car, no one was injured.

The Chief said crews were on the scene for two hours, since the car was impaled on the guard rail and had to be cut loose from the vehicle. Debris cleanup and traffic control also kept crews on the scene.

Emergency crews transported those traveling in the car to a local hotel.
