8,828 New COVID Cases in Illinois Thursday

The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 8,828 new confirmed and probable cases of coronavirus disease in Illinois Thursday. The report includes 181 additional COVID-related deaths.

There were COVID-related deaths Thursday, including two in Effingham County; a female in her 60s and a female in her 70s. Other COVID-related deaths in area counties Thursday: a female in her 80s in Coles County; a female in her 70s and a female in her 90s in Fayette County; and a female in her 90s in Shelby County.

As of Wednesday night, 4,751 people in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 1,056 were in the ICU and 575 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
