Cowden-Herrick school board members approved an intergovernmental agreement at this month's meeting concerning the Effingham Regional Career Academy.

The Academy is being established to provide various areas of instruction. School districts will cooperate with Lake Land College, the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce and other entities to bring the academy to life. There are plans to eventually have a physical facility near the Lake Land Kluthe Center to house the Academy. In the meantime, various courses of instruction are being established allowing students in different districts to take advantage of courses their individual districts might not be able to provide.

The Cowden-Herrick board also passed the tax levy for the coming fiscal year, and tabled action on upgrading the junior high HVAC controls.
