There will be a new Village President in Teutopolis in 2021.

The filing period for the village election ended Monday, and incumbent Village President Greg Hess did not file for another term.

Those who did file for Village President are David Repking and Scott Overbeck. Neither are currently on the Board, although Repking is a past village trustee.

Two incumbents filed for another term as trustee. They are David Tegeler and Greg Oseland. Longtime incumbent John Mette is not seeking another term. Other candidates for trustee are Brian Meyer, Angela Kroeger and Leon Gobczynski.

Meyer is also on the Teutopolis school board, but is allowed to serve on both boards if elected, since Teutopolis is a community with a population of less than 2,500. Gobczynski recently resigned from the school board and is also a former Effingham County Board member and chairman.
