Effingham County 911 board members Tuesday discussed whether to beef up 911's web presence.

911 has a website, but the only way to gain access is by going 911's Facebook page. The thought Tuesday was seeing whether the City and the County would let the 911 website be linked to their websites to provide a higher profile for the page.

Meanwhile, work is being done to update the 911 Facebook page. City Telecommunicator Supervisor Billie Bales said the project is a "work in progress."

911 System Administrator Tina Daniels reported that they had already received a 911 Next Generation grant, but that she is checking on seeking a second grant that could help pay for an upgrade of the recording equipment used to monitor 911 calls.

The 911 Board also passed the budget for the fiscal year beginning December 1. The $318,070 budget is $5,000 higher than the projected budget from last month, as it now includes funds for initial county rural 911 street signs. 911 funds can be used for the first street signs put in place, but the County has to pay for replacement signage.
