After a period of time when the Teutopolis school board contained more members from a township than is permitted, the board is back to full strength.

Teutopolis Superintendent Matt Sturgeon said two board members, Courtney Tegeler and Brian Meyer, moved and created a situation where there were four board members from the same township. State law, though, only allows no more than three members to reside in the same township. The matter came to the Board's attention at its October meeting. Former board member Leon Gobczynski says that when the issue came to light, he believed there was not going to be action to correct the situation, so resigned from the Board.

Tegeler since resigned from the Board, as did Meyer later. Then, at Monday's meeting, the Board reappointed Tegeler and Meyer from their new locations, and appointed Toby McMahon to succeed Gobczynski to bring the Board membership back to seven and with an allowable number of members per township. The Board also elected Tegeler as vice president of the board.

Sturgeon reminds that the next school board election will take place in April. The filing period for the election will be December 14-21.

The Board also Monday briefly discussed winter sports but took no action in light of the meeting this Thursday of the IHSA Board in hopes of more clarity as to whether winter sports will proceed as scheduled or be delayed until the spring.

Teutopolis board members also renewed an agreement with Arrow Pest Control for services through September 2021; approved Samantha Will as a student teacher for Spring semester; approved a tentative tax levy with an increase of less than 5% from last year; and approved a 36-month agreement with Homefield Energy as electric supplier until December 2023.

The Board also hired Jann Rhodes as a 6-1/2 hour per day, three day/week Rtl Interventionist at the high school through the end of the school year.
