The trial of Mark Sigrist has been continued to January 25.

The 39-year-old Sigrist is charged with attempted murder and aggravated domestic battery for allegedly injuring his grandparents. The incident allegedly occurred at his grandparents' home in Edgewood on July 7.

Defense attorney Ed Deters told Judge Michael McHaney that he is seeking evaluation of his client by a professional. Deters said he wants the evaluation of his client for purpose of developing a defense. Family members have indicated Sigrist has mental health issues.

Sigrist was to go on trial on November 23. He is being held in Effingham County Jail on $1 million bond.
