Region 6 Resrictions 2020

Friday's announcement by Governor Pritzker of new restrictions on Region 6 (which includes Effingham), has drawn a mostly negative reaction from followers on our Facebook page, who voiced their concern over the effect restrictions will have on local businesses.

Locally, the City of Effingham said Friday in a statement, "the City encourages all citizens to abide by the Tier 1 requirements which may be seen by clicking here.

Citizens who wish to file a complaint regarding violations of the rules should file the complaint with the Illinois Department of Public Health at dph.illinois.gov or with the Illinois State Police isp.illinois.gov.

Local law enforcement will continue to educate and encourage compliance.

Additionally, Norma Lansing, President of the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce expressed concern stating she "believes that the Governor is wrong and going after the wrong people." she expressed "Some local businesses were able to deal with this in warm weather but will not be able to manage at this time."  Lansing is fearful that this could cause the end for local businesses that we have enjoyed until now.
