National Guardsman 2020

The Bravo 2- 130 Infantry Unit of the Illinois National Guard is scheduled to return to Effingham Saturday evening.

Members of the unit will be officially released at 4 pm in the Belleville area. While some members will choose at that time to travel with family, other members will travel by commercial bus to the Effingham Armory and are expected to arrive in town between 5:15 and 5:45 pm.

There will not be a formal ceremony at the Effingham Armory. However, community members are encouraged to line Fayette Avenue and Keller Drive as the bus travels through Effingham to the Armory to show their support and appreciation for their efforts after being deployed for over nine months.

The unit based out of Effingham was deployed on January 21, 2020, and served in Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan.
