Car and Semi Collide in Jasper County Monday

A car and truck tractor grain trailer were involved in a collision in Jasper County just before 4:30pm Monday.

The crash happened on Illinois Route 33 at Jasper County Road 640 East. 

State police report the car driven by 21-year-old Allison Nash of Vincennes, Indiana, attempted to pass the semi and another car ahead of Nash at the same time the semi driven by 31-year-old Michael Finley of Newton attempted to turn left off the highway onto Road 640 East.

While neither driver was injured, a passenger in the car, 48-year-old Tracie Nash of Bridgeport, was hurt and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Nash was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash, improper lane usage, and failure to wear a seat belt.
